Declaration
Xenophobia: not in my name!
During the recent election campaign, Thomas Stettler and his party constantly stigmatised and exploited the foreigners living here. Then, invited onto a television set following his election to the National Council, Mr Stettler made no secret of his xenophobia.
His words and attitude shamed our Canton and shocked a large part of its population.
And yet, during this federal election, a large majority of Jura citizens voted in favour of an open, tolerant and welcoming Canton of Jura.
The signatories of this declaration are joining together symbolically to show that the population of the Canton of Jura is affirming these values in large numbers. Through their signatures, the people of Jura are denouncing Mr Stettler’s xenophobia. We, the signatories of this declaration, wish to state that despite his election, when Mr Stettler speaks, he does not do so in our name.
I sign: xenophobia, not in my name!
